UNCW hosts annual Economic Outlook Conference

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It may be looking stormy across the area come this weekend, but beyond that things are looking good for the Cape Fear.

UNCW hosted their annual Economic Outlook Conference Thursday morning. It gave people an overview of what is coming up over the next year nationally and regionally when it comes to economic growth.

Regional Economist Dr. Adam Jones said the area has been creating jobs for the last six years and is expected to exceed both the state and national growth.

“I think it’s looking positive,” Jones said, “the national economy will continue to grow and we think the regional economy is going to out perform the the national economy. We think it’ll be a good year.”

However, every outlook comes with risks. Some of those risks include the impact of House Bill Two in our state, and the Presidential election, all of which are factors for economic growth over the next year.
