UNCW online programs earn recognition

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — You might have heard advertisements for online programs to get your four-year degree, but did you know you can earn a bachelor’s degree by taking online classes from UNCW?

In a press release, the university said it ranked 76th on U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 list of Best Online Bachelor’s Programs.

UNCW tied with West Carolina University as the top North Carolina universities on the list.

The university’s Master of Science in Clinical Research and Product Development also achieved recognition, ranking 1st on a list of 10 Most Affordable Online M.S.N. in Clinical Research Degrees by the online guide Best Medical Degrees.

“UNCW’s programs combine quality and affordability — key considerations for students pursuing a degree online,” Provost Marilyn Sheerer said in a press release. “Because location is not a limiting factor in distance education, these students have many options available to them. Programs that are recognized as a good value are in a competitive position.”

“It’s a great option for working adults, especially if you’re juggling work and family,” UNCW Associate Vice Chancellor for Distance Education Ron Costello said. “It allows you to study on your own time in hours that work best for you.”

U.S. News ranked UNCW 6th among public universities, 16th overall, among Best Regional Universities in the South for 2017, while The Princeton Review featured UNCW as one of the “Best Southeastern Colleges” for 2017.
