UNCW professors join the search for missing Wilmington Woman

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Ebonee Spears, 30, has been missing since since January 18 and former UNCW co-workers are hoping to keep the spirit alive for her search.

Spears was last seen at the Pointe at Taylor Estates. Detectives said it is still just a missing persons case, but family members believe it is more than that. Spears’ mother has stated she is very concerned about her daughter’s health because she has recently been diagnosed with lupus.

A UNCW spokeswoman confirmed Spears worked as a temporary employee last spring and summer in the university’s history department.

“We’d talk about her daughter all the time,” said Townend. “She was dedicated to that child, and I know that if she’s away from her, something serious is keeping her away.”

A UNCW spokeswoman said the school’s staff plans to participate in a search if one is held.
