UNCW & Country Club of Landfall Gear Up for 2010 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship
The 2010 NCAA Division One Women’s Golf Championship will return to Wilmington in three more months. The Country Club of Landfall hosted the event in 1995. It’s back at the Pete Dye layout this coming May. UNCW A.D. said: ” besides showcasing quality golf featuring many players that will eventually be on the LPGA Tour the championship will bring national media attention to Wilmington and it will provide a healthy boost to our economy.”
Arizona State is the defending champ. 24 teams will participate. Many of them have played in the annual Landfall Tradition Tournament that Landfall hosts every October. Even though UNCW is the host school the Seahawks will have to qualify in order to play in the national championship field.
The tournament tees off May 18th. It will conclude May 21st.
