UNCW cleared to begin housing construction
UNC Wilmington has the OK to begin construction on its controversial housing project today.
Students have fought against the construction which will clear about 13 acres of the campus Longleaf Pine Forest.
They lost their push for a temporary restraining order on Monday.
An attorney representing the school said UNCW was under deadline to finish the apartments in time for students returning in the fall.
The opponents still can file for a preliminary injunction but that won’t likely happen until next week.
