UNCW gets web radio station

WILMINGTON — The UNCW Seahawks have a new place to soar: over the web.

Monday Hawkstream Radio hit the internet.

The student run station will stream radio shows with different types of music.

The radio station plans to air political talk shows and comedy shows all hosted by students. Most importantly, Hawkstream Radio is giving students a chance to get valuable experience.

Student and station manager Danielle Gardner said, “It’s music, it’s entertainment. I think every college should have a radio station, but I think we should also have something where kids can come in and get experience in radio.”

The station already has 28 student DJs hosting internet shows.
