UNCW softball coach resigns

UNCW is looking for a new softball coach.

After seven seasons as head coach Melissa Jarrell quit today.

Athletic director Kelly Mehrtens said in a statement Jarrell decided because of personal reasons, it was in her best interest to resign.

Jarrell and her former domestic partner, State Senator Julia Boseman recently defaulted on the loan for their $1.3 million home in New Hanover County.

No word on if Jarrell’s decision to quit was connected to the loan problem.
