UNCW spreads holiday cheer to seniors

UNCW staff and students helped bring a little holiday cheer to some local seniors on Friday.

The college’s gerontology program created gift baskets for seniors at Silver Stream Nursing Home.

The seniors were given baskets filled with items from toiletries to cookies. The seniors say the program helps them feel young around the holidays.

Frances Hardison, Silver Stream Nursing Home senior said, “I’m still a child and I love presents, I love to give presents. The more we get together the merrier it is at Christmas time.”

Of course you can’t have a holiday party without a few Christmas carols. And with all the singing you can work up a bit of an appetite, so there was plenty of ice cream for everyone’s sweet tooth.
