UNCW student found dead in dorm

WILMINGTON — A medical examiner may be able to provide more information Thursday after a UNCW freshman was found dead in his dorm.

A roommate found 18-year-old William David Sword of Cary dead in their Galloway Hall room Wednesday.

UNCW Police were immediately notified. Wilmington Police were not called in.

There’s no word on the cause of death at this point, but university police say there was no threat to the campus community, according to a university e-mail.

That same e-mail expressed condolences to Sword’s family.
