UNCW tea party

On UNCW’s campus Wednesday, the college republicans spent most of the afternoon handing out pamphlets and information on what they say is wasteful spending.

A spokesperson said the recent Wilmington City Council trip to the nation’s capitol is one example of money that was not well spent.

That was $19,000 in taxpayer money.

The group hopes the small demonstrations around the state will force all elected officials to make better decisions with taxpayer money.

“We’re a small group, I’m hoping that the people in Washington will see every little group that’s going on and we’ll have the big impact. And they’ll see that they’re upset about what’s going on and we’re upset that they’re spending our tax dollars the way they’re spending them,” said UNCW senior Tyler Cralley.
