UPDATE: Escaped inmate turns himself in


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — An inmate who went missing last night is back behind bars.

Officials at the New Hanover County Jail tell WWAY Terrance Allen, 47, turned himself in last night around 12:20 a.m. after escaping for a work assignment at 8 p.m. Allen is serving a sentence as a habitual felon for multiple larcenies, speeding to elude arrest, resisting an officer and other crimes.

Allen is now facing felony charges in connection with the escape.
