UPDATE: Highway Patrol identifies bicyclist killed in wreck on NC 179

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Highway Patrol has identified the person killed while riding a bicycle on NC 179 this afternoon.

Troopers say the victim is Timothy Leonard, 57, of Shallotte.

Highway Patrol says Leonard was riding his bike in the northbound lane when he crossed the center line and was struck by a car.

Troopers say alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors. No charges are expected.
