Felony charge dropped against Topsail baseball coach

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) —  A felony charge was dropped against the Topsail High School head baseball coach.

Yesterday, prosecutors dropped a felony assault by strangulation charge against Jonathan Granville Gehris.

Gehris is still facing a misdemeanor assault on a female charge. The District Attorney’s Office said he will face that charge on March 29.

Gehris has been suspended with pay since January in connection with the investigation.
