UPDATE: Job fairs bring out new resumes
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Managers at the North Carolina Department of Commerce Division of Workforce Solutions say more people are coming in to polish up their resumes.
Lois Smith, of the NC Division of WS, says, “A lot of unemployed are coming in hopeful. We haven’t seen that in a long time. So when they start hearing job fairs, multiple job fairs with huge numbers of employers hiring. They get excited.”
Smith says they can help anyone put together a resume if they’d like.
Earlier this week there several job fairs.
Cape Fear Community College, NHRMC, and Cellular one all held job fairs.
Saturday, there is one more.
Finally, Wilmington’s newest employer will welcome the public, including applicants for its more than 1,300 jobs Saturday. Vertex Rail Technologies is hosting an open house and job fair event at its new facility at 202 Raleigh St. from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Information about the new facility and the rail cars to be manufactured there will be on display. Members of Vertex staff will be on hand to answer questions and to discuss the various positions that they are seeking to fill. Job applications will be accepted during the event. No interviews will be conducted. Those applicants who have previously submitted a resume or job application do not need to resubmit but are welcome to come see the new facility.
