UPDATE: Kidnapping ends in crash

ROCKY POINT, NC (WWAY) — The Pender County Sheriff’s Office says a car crash early Saturday morning in Pender County is also related to a shooting and domestic dispute.

Officials received a report of a kidnapping at 144 Clarksville Landing Road in Rocky Point early Saturday morning.

Just minutes after the initial report, a wreck was reported on Highway 210 near Heide Trask High School.

The incident started with a domestic dispute in New Hanover County, according to Capt. Jamie Ezzell with the Pender County sheriff’s office.

Two men, Jon Craig Henley and Troy David Henley along with two women, were driving when one of the men and one of the women got into a verbal argument inside the car. It escalated quickly as the vehicle pulled off the road and the confrontation became physical on the side of the road in the Wrightsboro community, before continuing in Rocky Point, officials said.

During the altercation, Jon Craig Henley was shot in the face. The suspect is identified as Troy David Henley and has been charged with assault on a female, discharge of a firearm on occupied property and possession of a firearm by a felon. His bond is set at $5,000.

John Craig Henley, Troy Craig Henley, and one of the female passengers all received treatment from the hospital. No other information is available on their conditions at this time.
