UPDATE: Man charged with assault after weekend stabbing

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man is facing assault charges after police say a domestic disturbance turned into a stabbing, sending two to the hospital over the weekend.

Wilmington Police say it happened just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday on North 10th Street, near Campbell Street. That’s where officers say they found Demetrius Johnson, 50, on the front porch with a stab wound to his left shoulder.

Dispatchers say police reports show Johnson had kicked in a door at a home in the 600 block of 10th Street before stabbing another man. Police say witnesses at the scene told them the victim was upstairs in his room. Officers say they found the other man in his room with a stab wound to the stomach.

Johnson is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He is behind bars in the New Hanover County Jail under $15,000.
