UPDATE: Police investigate afternoon shootings in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – A series of shootings rocked Wilmington this afternoon. First, a Wilmington teenager was shot. New Hanover County Dispatch says the call came in around 1:40pm about shots fired in the area of 414 Henry St. The caller told them a 16 year old male had been shot.

Wilmington Police said he was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

The suspect remains on the loose. Police described him as a black male, in a green hoodie. They say he headed north from the scene where the shooting happened.

The second shooting occurred around 8:00 pm in the 300 block of N. 30th St. The victim was grazed in the arm and transported to NHRMC with non-life threatening injuries. Witnesses say they saw a grey mini van leaving the scene.

30 minutes later police responded to 823 S. 6th St where multiple bullets were fired into a home. No one was injured in that shooting. Police are not ruling out that these shootings could be related.
