UPDATE: Police searching for same suspect in three robberies
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are searching for a man they say is the suspect in three separate robberies in Wilmington Sunday.
Wilmington Police say the first robbery happened just after 5:30 p.m. at the Scotchman store at 610 Eastwood Road. That’s where they say a skinny, white male with a pony-tail was wearing a mask over his face when he walked inside the business.
Officers say the suspect was carrying a bag when he demanded cash, but when the worker refused to hand over any money the man took off running toward Eastwood Road.
The second crime happened just before 7:30 p.m. at the Scotchman at 310 S. College Road. Police say the man matching the same description also walked into that store carrying a bag, but did not show a weapon.
They say the man was wearing a grey hoodie and black shoes during that crime. Officers say the man got away empty-handed from that scene.
Police say the third robbery happened at the Family Dollar at 722 S. 17th Street just before 9:30 p.m. They say the suspect matched the same description from the first two crimes, but was carrying a gun this time.
Officers say the man did get away with some cash from the store, and K-9 officers tried tracking him but their search turned up nothing. Police are still searching for the suspect, who is facing charges for all three of the crimes.
