UPDATE: School district comments on missing iPads

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County School leaders are explaining what’s being done about thousands of dollars worth of missing iPads.

WWAY found out last week, the county is missing 89 iPads that were at D.C. Virgo Middle School. Deputy Superintendent Rick Holliday said the iPads were not assigned to students and they have filed a police report and insurance claims for the electronics.

“When you have this volume in one place that has never been assigned to anyone, and that much of the inventory is gone, you begin to suspect some kind of foul play,” Holliday said.

A total of 262 items are missing from the county’s schools, but they say many of those items are just misplaced or missing within the building rather than stolen.
