UPDATE: SEANC director resigns amid questions about spending

RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) — SEANC Executive Director Dana Cope has resigned.

The move came a day after Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman told ABC11 that she has asked the State Bureau of Investigations to conduct an “inquiry” into allegations of financial impropriety at the State Employees Association of North Carolina.

Cope told reporters Tuesday that he had “blurred the lines between his personal life and his professional life” and is stepping down.

There have been questions about use of money at SEANC, including what appeared to be spending on construction projects at Cope’s personal home.
