UPDATE: Three women turn themselves in for fraud charges

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Three of five women connected to a fraud investigation in Brunswick County turned themselves in to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

Maria Sloan, Velda Barnhill, and Monica Frazier were arrested Tuesday. Sloan and Barnhill are still in jail and both have a $100,000 secured bond. Frazier was released Tuesday with a $5,000 unsecured bond.

Investigators are still looking for Pamela Springer and Lisa McClain. Detectives say McClain was the leader of the debt consolidation/bill pay service that stole more than $260,000 stolen from a disabled veteran.

If you have any information on where McClain or Springer are, call the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.
