UPDATE: Wanted mom arrested

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Pender County Sheriff’s deputies say the woman wanted for dropping off an abused 4-month-old at the hospital has been arrested.

Investigators say the infant was taken to NHRMC and later air lifted to UNC Hospital in critical condition yesterday. They say the baby’s mother, Cassie Cliff, took the infant to the hospital and then later took off.

Deputies say she was taken into custody after her vehicle was spotted in the Murrayville area. She faces charges including felony child abuse.

No word on the condition of the baby this afternoon.
