Update on using rental cars to save money on trips

With gas prices at an all time high people are trying to find ways to save on fuel costs.

Friday, we told you how Enterprise Rent-a-Car is adding more fuel efficient vehicles to its fleet because of consumer demand.

Many people, like NewsChannel 3’s assignment manager Ashley Talley, are renting smaller cars to go on weekend trips instead of taking their gas guzzling SUV.

Ashley hoped to save a lot of money but, in the end only ended up saving a couple of bucks.

“I broke even saved, the wear and tear on my car, so I would probably do it again,” said Talley.

Ashley did save over $60 in gas money over the course of the trip, but had to pay almost $20 dollars a day to rent the car.
