VA clinic water still unsafe, health department says

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A spokeswoman with the New Hanover County Health Department said test results of the VA clinic’s water in Wilmington is still unsafe.

The spokeswoman said the most recent test on August 17 still showed high levels of copper in the water. Lead content, however, was found below the limits established by the federal Safe Drinking Water Act, she said.

The clinic has had issues with the water since late March. The VA leases the building to a company based in Wisconsin for about $280,000 a month.
