Vacuum maker picks Charlotte for expansion

CHARLOTTE, NC (AP) — Vacuum manufacturer Electrolux North
America will create 200 jobs in Charlotte over the next four years
by consolidating positions from across the United States.

Gov. Beverly Perdue announced the move, saying the company will
spend $14 million in the expansion. The company moved its
headquarters to Charlotte more than a year ago.

The average salary in at the Charlotte headquarters will be
$90,000 a year, not including benefits. That’s nearly $40,000 more
than Mecklenburg County’s average wage.

Perdue says state incentives include a $325,000 grant from the
One North Carolina fund for job creation and investment, and up to
$7 million based on the amount of personal income taxes generated
by the Electrolux jobs over the next 12 years.

Electrolux has 8,000 U.S. employees, including about 1,000 in
North Carolina.
