Woman charged with DWI in Shallotte crash

SHALLOTTE, NC (WWAY) — The woman who crashed into a business on Main Street in Shallotte was on drugs, according to police.

Laura Marie Whitesides, 44, is charged with DWI, driving with a revoked license due to impaired revocation, driving with a revoked revocation plate and having an expried inspection.

The crash happened around 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Bargain Basement Resale.

Shallotte Police say Whitesides drove her Dodge Durango completely inside the building.

No one got hurt.

Whitesides is in the Brunswick County Detention Center under a $1,500 bond.
