Vendors cashing in at Wells Fargo Championship

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The golfers aren’t the only ones trying to make a name for themselves at the Wells Fargo Championship this week. So is a local hot dog shop.

The Trolly Stop on Fountain Drive actually closed down its shop to be out at Eagle Point Golf Club, because it had to move all its equipment. The shop actually had to recruit volunteers, because it didn’t have enough employees.

Owner Rich Walsh says he figured the shop could make a month’s profit within a week by being here, but the work was more than he ever thought.

“We’ve been busier than expected, because we never did this before,” Walsh said. “So you’re only estimating how much food. In the mornings you can’t get a delivery after 6 o’clock, so we’re up at 4 o’clock in the morning getting deliveries with the golf cart, bringing them in.”

The owners say they’ve even run out of food some days this week.

They hope to have the equipment moved home and the shop back up and running by Tuesday.
