Verizon to launch 4G LTE in Wilmington area this year

WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) Verizon announced today that it is bringing the world’s first large-scale 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to Wilmington, NC. The availability of a 4G LTE wireless network in Wilmington is part of the company’s aggressive expansion of its network into 140 additional markets in 2011. Last year, the world’s first large-scale launch of LTE began in 38 major metropolitan areas and in more than 60 commercial airports coast to coast.

The deployment of Verizon Wireless’ 4G LTE in Wilmington provides LTE coverage throughout the city and reaching surrounding areas including Wrightsville Beach, Castle Hayne, Wrightsboro, Murraysville, Kirkland, Ogden, Seagate, Masonboro, Silver Lake, Myrtle Grove, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Boiling Spring Lakes, Bolivia, Bald Head Island, Caswell Beach, Southport, Oak Island, St. James, Holden Beach, Shallotte, Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach.
