Veterans get feisty with the VA in Wilmington
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — There was a feisty meeting at the VA clinic Monday night in Wilmington. The VA is holding these meetings to get feedback from veterans about what they are doing right and what they could improve on.
People had a lot to say to them too. Folks upset about wait times, the phone system at the Wilmington clinic, and a lack of coverage options for veterans who need assistance. Folks with the VA said it’s important to do these meetings face to face.
“Veterans need to have their voices heard. If we are doing a good job great I want to hear that. If we have areas in which we can improve I want to hear that too and this is just another opportunity for them to do that,” said Elizabeth Goolsby, Medical Center Director for the Fayetteville VA.
VA staff was on hand tonight to answer one-on-one questions as well. The VA is doing this style of meeting across North Carolina. The Fayetteville clinic serves 21 counties in our area.
