Virginia man drowns in Surf City
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A deadly start to the week in Surf City. A 57-year-old visitor from Virginia drowned late Monday morning.
According to the Surf City Fire Department, crews responded to a swimmer in distress near Beach Access #3 (1820 N Shore Drive) just before 11:30am.
When Ocean Rescue arrived, bystanders were attending to a the male victim in the water and had already started CPR.
Pender EMS and Fire and the Surf City Fire Department administered advanced life support, but he man did not survive.
He has been identified as 57-year-old Minh Ha Nguyen of Richmond, Virginia.
