Volunteers spent Saturday cleaning Brunswick County

Volunteers got up early Saturday morning to keep Brunswick County beautiful.

The crew participating in the Brunswick Big Sweep picked up trash around North Brunswick High School in Leland. They started around 8:00 a.m. at town hall, then picked up litter along Old Fayetteville Road.

The group found strange items like a hospital bracelet and a diaper. Although North Brunswick is a tobacco free zone, workers say they picked up several cigarette butts on campus.

“Such a few people making a big difference this morning, if everyone would come out and just spend an hour picking up trash it would help our environment for many years,” said volunteer Diana Kenny.

Brunswick Big Sweep volunteers also picked up trash in Bolivia and Sunset Beach.
