VOTE 2010: While McIntyre distances himself from Democrats, the party helps buy him TV ads
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Congressman Mike McIntyre’s message this election season is that he works for the people in his district, not Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and not necessarily the Democratic Party as a whole.
But the Congressman didn’t turn down help today from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which is buying TV time in the market to counter challenger Ilario Pantano’s push.
“If Mike McIntyre was not a valuable member of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s team, the Washington Democrats would not be rushing to his aid at the eleventh hour,” says Frank Williams, Chairman of the N.C. 7th Congressional District Republican Party. “The bottom line is that Nancy Pelosi and the liberal Washington establishment are rushing to Mike McIntyre’s defense because they know he is in trouble. He is in trouble because his support for Nancy Pelosi’s agenda is out of touch with the common-sense values of southeastern North Carolinians.”
The Republican Congressional Campaign Committee has been buying TV campaign ads for Pantano for a few weeks.
