Wachovia bank robbed Monday

There were some scary moments today for workers at a Wilmington Wachovia branch.

Police said a man tried to cash a check at the Wachovia at Shipyard Boulevard and 17th Street. The teller refused, and as the man was leaving the bank he spotted a bag of money in front of another teller.

He grabbed the money, and took off, possibly through a cemetery behind the bank. The suspect is described as a white male, 18 to 22 years old. He is about 5 foot 6 inches tall, wearing an oversized striped shirt and baggy jeans.

If you know anything about the incident, call Wilmington Police at 910-343-3600.
