Walking to remember

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Men, women, children and pets walked two laps around Carolina Beach Lake for a cause. The Alzheimer’s walk took place Saturday to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for the disease. Walk organizer Jennifer Langley lost her mother to Alzheimer’s three years ago and knows firsthand the benefits of Alzheimer’s North Carolina.

“This organization provides the support that those people need to kind of look back and remember the good moments that you have with the people when they start to develop the disease,” said Langley.

Alzheimers North Carolina broke away from the national organization in order to keep funds local and to be able to give personal care and commitment. Alzheimer’s patients walked as well, and those who have lost loved ones to the disease took time to remember by writing messages and drawing pictures on the sidewalks.
