Want to photograph the eclipse? Cell phone cameras not the best option

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The eclipse will likely be one of the most photographed events in history.

If you plan to take pictures of it, your cell phone may not be the best option.

Any photos taken without a proper filter or an app that allows for low lighting will likely come out poorly.

You’ll have a difficult time even seeing  your phone to take any pictures with your camera if you have the proper eclipse glasses on.

US Cellular recommends a selfie stick, because you won’t be looking directly at the sun while taking photos.

“You definitely want to make sure you’re safe. The first thing I’d say is if you have a selfie stick, that’s a really safe and easy way to make sure you’re videotaping or capturing the eclipse as it comes through,” said Greg Sager, the store manager of US Cellular’s Wilmington location.

US Cellular is not concerned about the possibility of the eclipse doing damage to your phone if you try to take pictures of it directly.
