Warrant: Man uses fake badge to try to return merchandise
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — An arrest warrant shows how far a man allegedly went to try to return something at a Leland store.
According to jail records, Eric Wayne Inman, 36, was booked in the Brunswick Co. Jail before noon yesterday on a charge of misdemeanor impersonate law enforcement. He was booked in under a $1,000 bond and was still in jail Wednesday morning. Leland Police said he was arrested in Bladen County on Sunday.
According to the arrest warrant, Inman went into a store in Leland and tried to return merchandise. Leland Police said it happened at the Walmart on New Pointe Blvd. on December 7. The warrant then says he showed two people a silver law enforcement badge in a black wallet and told them that it was OK to return the merchandise without a receipt because he is a Whiteville police officer.
