BALD HEAD ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Investigators said a Wilmington man is facing charges on Bald Head Island after a golf cart crash turned into an assault.
According to warrants, D. Isbell Logan, 49, was booked on charges including resisting public officer, assault on a government officer, assault on a female and hit-and-run. The warrants said the man crashed and totaled a golf cart on Sunday around 6 p.m. on Bald Head Island and left the scene. Village Manager Chris McCall told WWAY after Logan crashed on Transom Row, he jumped in a nearby boat at the marina and took off.
Warrants go on to say when a BHI public safety officer tried to investigate the crash, Logan poked the female officer in the chest, “causing her to stumble.” When a male officer tried to arrest Logan, arrest warrants said he kicked the officer in the stomach.
Logan was finally in custody around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, McCall said. Logan was transported to the Brunswick County Detention Center, but has since posted bond.
