1 school closed, Pender Co. Schools on 2-hour delay after water main break
PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Crews with Pender County Utilities are working to repair a water main break that has left customers without water for hours.
According to Pender County Utilities the break is in the area of Highway 210, no word yet on when the repairs will be complete.
Malpass Elementary will be closed to students and staff Wednesday, Sept. 7, due to a water pump failure at the school, according to a release. After school activities are also cancelled.
Because of the water main break, all Pender County Schools are on 2-hour delay, according to a schools spokeswoman.
Customers are being advised to boil their water for consumption once repairs have been made. Pregnant women and children under six should stick to drinking bottled water.
Officials say boiling the water for one minute should kill any bacteria that may be present.
