Water quality experts will discuss GenX first anniversary

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — June 7 is the first anniversary of the revelation of GenX in the Cape Fear River. Water quality experts will mark the day with a panel discussion to talk about where we are now.

The Cape Fear Chapter of Surfrider Foundation is hosting “What’s In Our Water?” at Cape Fear Community College’s Union Station Auditorium.

CFPUA CEO Jim Flechtner, NC State GenX researcher Jane Hoppin and other water quality experts will be there.

The panel discussion will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

This is the final event of Clean Water Week, which aims to explore the threats to clean water in the lower Cape Fear region.
