Water Festival to help highlight Earth Week in NC

RALEIGH — State officials say a water festival at a North Carolina park will be held to help highlight the observance of Earth Week in North Carolina to 8th grade students.

The event at Pilot Mountain State Park runs Tuesday through Thursday at the Yadkin River section north of the park. The festival is being sponsored by the state park and the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Surry County.

The festival is designed to educate the students about water resources.

It is one of several events this week. On Wednesday, Lake James State Park in McDowell County is sponsoring nature activities for adults and children and offering a “Get Outside Kit.”
