Water line break closes state offices in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Offices in the former New Hanover County Administration Building are closed after a water line break. The building at 320 Chestnut Street in Downtown Wilmington was built in 1950 and is now home to state offices, including the Public Defender, Guardian ad Litem and Community Service office.

A major water line behind the walls of the fifth floor broke late yesterday afternoon. Employees were allowed in the building to get court files, but it will remain closed to the public until further notice.
