Water St. could flood this afternoon

WILMINGTON, NC (NEWS RELEASE) — Due to a combination of excessive rain and a high tide, the National Weather Service has advised that flooding of up to two feet is expected today on Water Street. Flooding is expected to be at its worse this afternoon between 2:30 and 5 p.m.
Fliers with this information are being distributed to businesses along Water Street by the Wilmington Fire Department. Anyone in the area is encouraged to take precautionary measures, including avoiding walking or driving in standing water. Businesses/residents in the Water Street area should protect valuables as needed by placing them on tables, etc. off of the floor.
The New Hanover County Emergency Operations Center is currently gathering information to assess if there are any other problem areas. More information will be distributed as it becomes available.
