Water system shutdown, boil water notice for Walnut Hills area

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Due to planned improvements, water service in a portion of the Walnut Hills area will be shut down Tuesday, February 5, 2008. Water will be turned off beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. along the following streets.

* Apple Road
* Brier Road
* Fawn Street
* Berry Street

Service should be restored by late afternoon. Once service is restored however, residents in the affected area should be advised to boil their water prior to drinking. While it is unlikely that there will be a problem with the water bringing your water to a rolling boil for a minute or two is sufficient. Water quality testing typically takes 24 hours to complete. Residents will be notified through the news media then.
