Weather Service says Shelby storm was a twister
SHELBY, NC (AP) — National Weather Service investigators have
confirmed a tornado was responsible for damage to mobile homes and
other structures north of Shelby.
The twister struck a rural part of Cleveland County on Saturday
during the series of storms that hit the Charlotte region.
The tornado began just before 5 p.m. and brought maximum winds
of 80 mph. It moved southeast for about a half-mile before lifting.
One man was hurt when the tornado flipped his mobile home and a
second mobile home was also overturned.
There were minor damages to other homes and a roof was blown off
a shed.
