Weekend Warriors tournament tips off Saturday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — If you like fast-paced, up-and-down-the-court basketball, you’re in luck this weekend. The 21st Annual Battle of the Weekend Warriors will tip off tomorrow morning in Wilmington.

A handful of Wilmington teams will compete, but most of the squads will come to the Port City from out of town. Many players have college experience, some even have pro basketball on their resume.

The tournament will be held at three different locations in Wilmington: the YMCA, the Martin Luther King Center and the Schwartz Center in Downtown Wilmington. The Schwartz Center will serve as the main location and the host the championship game Sunday at 6:30pm.

Former UNCW Seahawks Brett Blizzard and John Fields are expected to play along with former NBA guard Anthony Grundy.
