Former PGA Tour professional Terry Mauney is the West Brunswick girls golf coach. On Monday he provided us an accessment of Cameryn Smith’s golf game. “She started playing golf six years ago at the First Tee of Brunswick County,” Mauney said. “In the last two years she’s overcome a blood clot, a busted knee, a terrible car accident which disables her mom and she couldn’t break 100. In the two years that I’ve worked with her, she’s dedicated herself to where she said I want to play at Pebble Beach in the First Tee Open. I want to attend college and play college golf. This woman has turned her 100 scores to scores in the 70s and she’s committed to play next year at Queens University in Charlotte as a freshman in Charlotte. She’s a very powerful player. She can hit it 240-250 yards. She’s an excellent putter and she knows the game. She knows her to plot her way around the golf course.”
Regional play will be held next Monday on Pinehurst #6 for the 4-A teams. Regional play will be held next Monday at Carolina National for the 3-A teams.
