WFD: Driver runs off after crashing into Wilmington home
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The search is underway for the driver who crashed into a Wilmington home and then ran off.
The crash happened at a home in the 3500 block of Chalmers Drive in the Pine Valley community.
Wilmington Police spokeswoman Jennifer Dandron says a neighbor noticed the damage around 1:30 p.m. and called 911. It’s believed the crash happened earlier than that.
Dandron says the SUV was reported stolen around 3:30 a.m. from a home on Waltmoor Road.
According to WFD, no one was in the home and no injuries are reported.
Police say the church next door owned the home. According to online records, the house belongs to Pine Valley Church of Christ.
Wilmington Fire says it’s a possible DWI and stolen vehicle case. Fire crews are shoring up the home at this time.
Wilmington Police are investigating.
