If you need to spruce up your yard, you can get some free assistance. Several organizations are teaming up for Treefest, where more than 12,000 trees will be given away. You can pick up to five free tree seedlings to take home. The giveaway begins at 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the Independence Mall.

Saturday, the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce is presenting its 5th Annual Business and Home Showcase and Expo. As well as items for your home and business, there will also be health and community service exhibits. It runs from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at North Brunswick High School in Leland.

If you have ever been enchanted with model trains, or have boyhood memories of model railroads, don’t bypass the Cape Fear Model Railroad Club’s 11th Annual Model Railroad Show and Sale. You will find it at the American Legion Post 10 on Pine Grove Drive in Wilmington. Tickets are five dollars for adults and three for children; children five and under are free. You can stop in between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday.

What better way to perfect your jump shot than with some pointers from the pros? The Wilmington Sea Dawgs and the Wilmington YMCA are holding a free basketball clinic for kids ages four to twelve. It runs from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Y. Game day is Sunday. The Sea Dawgs play at 5:00 p.m. at the Schwartz Center.

Explore the bowels of the battleship this weekend. Hidden Battleship is a behind the scenes tour of un-restored areas of the Battleship North Carolina. You can check it out at 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday morning. Tickets are $45 a piece.

A memorial tribute to the veteran Pat Hingle will take place Sunday. Hingle died January 3rd at his Carolina Beach home. Though best known for his role as Commissioner Gordon in the Batman movies, he was also in hundreds of other pictures and TV and stage productions. The memorial takes place from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre of the Cultural Arts Building at UNCW.
