You can get your hands dirty in the search for history. Friday afternoon, a fossil dig is taking place at the Martin Marietta Aggregates Quarry. You can search for sand dollars, seashells and shark teeth. It is five dollars per person. You have to pre-register by calling 910-341-0075. The dig runs from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Fashion takes center stage in Wilmington. The Domestic Violence Shelter and Services annual fashion show and silent auction fundraiser is Friday at the Hilton. There are two shows; one is at 11:30 am, the next is at 6:00 pm. Tickets for the lunch are $40. Tickets for the dinner are $50.
You may have seen the movie, now you can catch Big: The Musical. It is based on the film starring Tom Hanks. It premieres Thursday night at Thalian Hall. It runs this weekend and next weekend. Shows are at 8:00 p.m., with a Sunday showing at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $20.
Saturday, it is Kids Day all across America. In Leland, it is at North Brunswick Chiropractic. From 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., kids can learn more about crime prevention, safety and environmental awareness. Leland Police will also fingerprint your child for free.
The Fourth Annual Celebrate Hampstead Festival is Saturday. Get ready for arts, crafts, food, amusements, an auction and more. If you want to take the family, it is at Kiwanis Park from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m.
Dreams Center for the Arts is getting some help from local clothing store, Edge of Urge. A fashion show and market will take place Saturday to benefit dreams. The market begins at 1:00 p.m. with artists, designers and businesses in attendance. The fashion show, featuring handmade clothing by 12 designers, starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are five and ten dollars.
The Coast Guard Station Oak Island is putting on a show for visitors and collecting food for the needy. The 4th Annual Multi-Military Expo is Saturday. The expo will include a parachute team, robots and a silent drill team. It begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Admission is free, but make sure you bring along some non-perishable food for the food drive.
