WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Republican Woody White says he will run again for his seat on the New Hanover County Commission.

White, who was elected in 2012, made the announcement via social media this afternoon.

White announced last month that he would not run again for US House against Rep. David Rouzer as he did two years ago. White joins at least three other Republicans in the March primary, including fellow incumbent Beth Dawson, Campbell Dodd and Patricia Kusek, who White endorsed in his statement and said he is “truly excited about campaigning with.”

So far three Democrats have also entered the race for the three open seats, including incumbent Jonathan Barfield, Nelson Beaulieu and Julia Boseman, who served as a county commissioner several years ago before moving on to the North Carolina Senate.

Candidate filing for the March 15 primary wraps up Monday at noon.
